Dr. Michelle Commeret

Michelle Commeret, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Literacy Education at Bridgewater State University, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy and teacher education. She earned her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Language and Literacy Education from the University of Florida. Her research focuses on literacy teacher education, with particular attention to photovoice and multimodal inquiry, identity and reflective practice, and equitable and inclusive approaches to literacy teaching and teacher development. Her scholarship has been published in Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy, English Education, English Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Practitioner Research, Educational Action Research, and Journal of World Languages. She regularly presents her scholarship and pedagogical work at national and regional conferences in literacy, English language arts, and teacher education. At Bridgewater, she coordinates the Literacy Studies minor and serves on the Undergraduate Research Advisory Board. She is also actively involved in professional literacy organizations and currently serves on the board of the American Reading Forum, where she most recently co-chaired the Annual Conference.
