Dr. Alex Yepez

Alex Yepez is a linguist whose work brings together sociolinguistics and phonetics. His doctoral dissertation focused on phonetic variation in /st/ clusters in Andalusian Spanish, identifying the linguistic and social factors driving sound change in Seville. His current research explores languages in contact and the intersections of language, politics, identity, and power in Latin America. His work also addresses the use of artificial intelligence in translation and interpretation. He has taught Spanish language and linguistics as well as interdisciplinary courses addressing the social and cultural dimensions of language.
