Dr. Lance Brooks is an Assistant Professor of Exercise Physiology in the Department of Health and Kinesiology at Bridgewater State University, where he teaches courses in the Exercise Physiology major and the Physical Education master's program, including Physiology of Exercise and Biomechanics. His research focuses on the relationship between force, motion, and metabolism across scales, from the contractile properties of individual muscles to the movement patterns that emerge at the whole-body level. He has contributed as a co-investigator on projects funded by the NIH, NSA, Nike, World Athletics, and the Department of Defense. Much of that work has been done with elite athletes, both in the lab and through his applied consulting practice, and he speaks internationally on topics at the intersection of muscle physiology, biomechanics, and sport performance. Dr. Brooks and his wife Kellie are Texas natives who now call New England home. Outside of work, they enjoy spending time with family, being active, traveling, and catching live music whenever possible.
