Pam Szczygiel, DSW, LICSW began her social work journey in 2003. Following a few years of incredible community-level work in sexual violence prevention, she leaped clinical practice. Her clients have been her greatest teachers, always reminding her to stay humble and continuously pointing her back to the clinical relationship as a main catalyst for change. She identifies as a relationally informed social work practitioner, teacher, and scholar. Along the way, Dr. Szczygiel acquired certifications in health coaching, yoga, and other mind-body-spirit practices. She is currently involved in a multiyear study on social work student mental health and well-being. Each step on her journey continues to influence her current position in the School of Social Work at BSU. It is her greatest honor to teach and learn alongside social work students. In addition to her faculty position at BSU, Dr. Szczygiel maintains a psychotherapy practice and specializes in treating social workers and other helping professionals with personal trauma and compassion related stress. She also currently serves as a Faculty Associate in the Sexual Violence Advocacy and Support Center (SVASC) at BSU.
