Emmett H. Buhmann received his BFA in Theatre from the University of Wyoming in 2002, and his MFA in Drama from the University of California, Irvine in 2009. Before coming to Bridgewater, Emmett was the staff Theatrical Electrician and Scene Shop Supervisor for the Texas Tech University Department of Theatre & Dance. Currently he is the Faculty Lighting Designer for the BSU Theatre and Dance departments. Emmett has worked with such companies as Spectrum Theatre Ensemble (The Importance of Being), Brown Box Theatre (Much Ado About Nothing), BSU’s Family Performing Arts Center , Company ONE (peerless), The Un-Common Theater Company, The City of Somerville, MA (Dancing in the Streets Summer Series), Ballet Lubbock, Flatlands Dance Theatre, The Cactus Theatre, Snowy Range Summer Theatre, The Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts, Lubbock Moonlight Musicals, and Seattle’s Balagan Theatre. His design work has been seen in Massachusetts, Texas, California, Wyoming, Seattle, New York and Prague, CZ. Emmett’s BSU Lighting Design credits include Heathers the Musical, Godspell, Epic Proportions, Richard III, Macbeth, Urinetown the Musical, The Skin of Our Teeth, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Young Frankenstein, The Conference of the Birds, Assassins, Winterdance and Dance Kaleidoscope. Emmett served as Designer and Technical Director for BSU’s Arts for Teens program and is currently the resident lighting designer for the Capachione School of the Performing Arts.
