 ‘Say Nothing’: Excavating Silence and Memory in Contemporary Irish Culture

On March 19, from 2-3:15pm in the Heritage Room of the Maxwell Library. Dr. Barry Houlihan, Archivist of the University of Galway, will discuss Northern Ireland identity today through the lens of literature and film to unveil legacies of the Troubles. This will include examples of poems by Seamus Heaney, literature such as Trespasses by Louise Kennedy and Translations by Brian Friel, and popular culture through television found in shows such as Derry Girls. Sponsored by the Irish Studies Program, this event is open to the BSU community and the public.  Refreshments will be available.
