Subject:  Thursday and Friday Snow Plan – A Message from President Clark

Dear friends,

This morning, I traveled the campus to check in on our snow removal activities, the condition of our equipment, our ability to receive deliveries of critical supplies, and the status of parking lots as well as adjacent town roadways. I also had the opportunity to meet with many of our heroic grounds crew, maintainers, and Bridgewater dining staff. Additionally, we have been in touch with the Bridgewater Town Manager, area police departments, the Bridgewater/Raynham school system, and the Commissioner of the Department of Higher Education regarding our current status and ongoing efforts.

While the campus is working hard to remove snow and to keep our on-campus resident students safe, it is clear to me that BSU will be unable to open this Thursday or Friday due to the historic level of snow that fell over such a short time this week. The campus and surrounding area are just not safe enough to bring commuter students, faculty and non-essential staff to the campus. Being in the “jackpot” zone for snow amounts has been a remarkable challenge for BSU, the Town of Bridgewater, and for the entire southeastern Massachusetts region.

Consequently, BSU will be closed tomorrow and Friday.

With several days of missed classes due to snow emergencies already this semester, faculty are adjusting syllabi to ensure that students have access to the full range of course material for the remainder of the spring semester. In addition, several faculty members have indicated their desire to move some learning to an on-line format due to the disruption. For students, please check your BSU email and Blackboard messages for any directions from your instructor.

All other activities and events are canceled tomorrow and Friday unless otherwise authorized.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding as we address the challenges of the Blizzard of 2026. We will be back on campus with normal operations and class schedules on Monday. Stay safe!

Warmest regards,
Frederick W. Clark Jr., Esq.
President
