My research is student-centered and focuses on bridging the gap between engineering, geology, and society. Working closely with undergraduate students, I investigate the health and performance of earthen infrastructure, including dams and levees, and develop innovative inspection and monitoring techniques that leverage emerging technologies. My research also examines how natural hazards such as earthquakes, landslides, and hurricanes shape both the physical landscape and the communities that depend on it. Through this work, students gain hands-on experience addressing real-world challenges at the intersection of geoscience, engineering, and societal resilience.
