Jamie Little, Ph.D. teaches Intro Biology and Genetics. Dr. Littleās research uses Drosophila genetics to investigate the molecular mechanisms that regulate adult tissue maintenance and development with a particular focus on Wnt signaling. A central question in her research is why the apparent functional redundancy among Wnt proteins has been so strongly conserved across organisms and what biological advantages this redundancy provides. She has also contributed to interdisciplinary research exploring the biological effects of ultra-high-dose-rate radiation in fruit flies with the goal of improving our understanding of radiation-based cancer treatments. Dr. Little is passionate about undergraduate education and science communication. She believes that scientific discovery reaches its full potential only when it is shared clearly, thoughtfully and accessibly.
