The David Sousa '60 Faculty (and Librarian) Research and Development Fund

The David A. Sousa ’60 Faculty Research and Development Fund was established to provide a financial award for selected faculty/librarian member(s) to use toward research, publication, or professional development expenses in the area of neuroscience and its application to pedagogical theory and practice, a field of study extensively researched and written about by Dr. David Sousa.

Full-time and part-time faculty members and librarians are invited to apply for an award from this fund that will be used to benefit the faculty/librarian member’s professional growth and productivity. The review committee welcomes proposal submissions with the following guidelines in place:

  1. Proposals of any amount up to the current year's fund maximum will be considered and multiple awards may be given. The total amount available for this year’s funding pool is $3,100.
  2. Proposals must be for funding that can be used before June 1 of the current academic year.
  3. Fund recipients will be asked to provide follow-up reflection on their experiences and ways they anticipate these opportunities will influence their work.
  4. Some proposals may require a more specific funding plan to be submitted as part of the review process. Applicants will be contacted directly in the event more detail is needed.

Recipients will be selected by the Center for Educational Neuroscience Applications, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Dean of the College of Education and Health Sciences, in consultation with members of the Provost Council where needed.

SUBMISSIONS for the 2026-2027 academic year will be due in Spring 2027, more details to come.

Please direct questions about this selection process to Dr. Niki Glen, Associate Provost at nglen@bridgew.edu or Dr. Margaret Kjelgaard, Faculty Coordinator, Center for Educational Neuroscience Applications at mkjelgaard@bridgew.edu.
