The BSU Observatory is dedicated to educating and sparking an interest in science, particularly astronomy, in the regional community.
Currently, the Observatory is closed to the public due to the coronavirus pandemic. Information will be posted on our website once we receive updates. It is recommended that a few hours prior to the event guests confirm whether the observatory will be open. As its is closed when there is inclement weather or the sky is cloudy.
Information can be found on Facebook (we are listed as the Bridgewater State University Observatory), Twitter (@BSUObservatory), or by calling the observatory hotline at 508-531-DARK to confirm whether the event will take place.
We request that messages are not left when calling the hotline number (it's not connected to a desk phone). If you need to speak to someone about the observatory, please call the manager's office at 508-531-2093.
There is never a fee for attending an observatory event, and people of all ages are welcome. The observatory staff will show you constellations, planets, stars, nebulae, galaxies and star clusters, and will be happy to answer any questions you have about astronomy. If you need any accommodations, please contact us. We will be happy to make arrangements for you.
