Commencement Accessibility

For Graduating Students:

Graduating students who will require accommodations in the graduation process must complete an Accommodation Request Form. A staff member from the Student Accessibility Services Office will contact you to discuss the specific accommodation needed (e.g. interpreter services, wheelchair seating, etc.). Questions should be directed to the Student Accessibility Services Office 508.531.2194 or by emailing sas@bridgew.edu. The 2024 Form is coming soon!

Graduates who require accommodations may be requested to meet with staff from the Student Accessibility Services Office and the Commencement Committee prior to the ceremony to review processional and seating arrangements.

For Guests:

Bridgewater State University is committed to ensuring all individuals have equal access to its programs, services, and community. Please refer to the section below for Accessibility information as it pertains to Commencement Ceremonies at Gillette Stadium.

Accessibility Information:

Accessible Parking

Lots 4 and 5 offer accessible parking nearest the accessible entrance; a disability placard is required to park vehicles in designated handicap parking spaces.

All Commencement parking at Gillette Stadium is complimentary.

Accessible Entrance

Guests requiring accessibility should utilize the E2 EMC Suite Entrance.  This gate has an elevator to bring guests with mobility challenges to the main concourse of the stadium.  BSU Staff will be available at this entrance and on the concourse to assist with directions.

Etiquette and protocols, including bag policy can be found at https://www.bridgew.edu/commencement/etiquette-and-protocols. For guests requiring exemptions to this policy, please e-mail Gillette as noted.

Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs and other mobility devices are not provided. It is recommended that guests make prior arrangements should they need a wheelchair.

Accessible Seating

Gillette Stadium has a limited number of accessible seating locations throughout the stadium (all on the concourse level).  BSU and Gillette staff will be on hand to direct guests to accessible seating. All guests who need accessible seating are encouraged to arrive early, when entrances open, as seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Due to space restrictions, guests with accessibility needs may have one companion guest in the accessible seating area. To maintain proximity, three rows in front of each accessible section will be reserved for any remaining guests in the same party.

Electrical outlets are available in the first accessible seating area (closest to North Endzone) for those guests that require electricity for items such as Oxygen units.

Assistive Listening Devices

A limited number of listening devices will be available for each ceremony. The location for pickup will be the Red BSU Information Tent on the Concourse level.

Closed Captioning/Interpreter

Closed Captioning will be available on all screens throughout the stadium. There will be an interpreter at all ceremonies with viewing available on multiple screens on the field.  Guests planning to view these screens should select their seating accordingly.

In addition, two large print programs will be available per ceremony. The location for pickup will be the Red BSU Information Tent on the Concourse level.

Accessible Restrooms

All public restrooms are accessible to guests with disabilities.

Service Animals

BSU and Gillette Stadium welcomes service animals assisting guests with disabilities to the stadium.
