Family Orientation

Welcome to the BSU family!

We understand the importance of providing a family orientation experience that offers parents, family members and supporters of our students the opportunity to learn more about the student experience and the many programs, services, and resources available to your students.

Your orientation experience will include:

  • An in-person program during the BSU Checkpoint in June
  • An online program, “Crimson Beginnings for Families,” which you can visit at any time for key information
  • Ongoing family engagement through the BSU Family Hub

During your student’s application process, they were asked to provide a parent email address. This is where we will be reaching out to give you more information about the family orientation experience. If you need to update that email, please reach out to the Office of Admission at

Immediate questions about orientation can be sent to

Creating a BSU Family Hub account on EngageBSU provides access for parents, family members and supporters of our currently enrolled students to have ongoing engagement with BSU. This experience will make it easier for families to stay informed through monthly newsletters and regularly posted information about campus services, resources, events, and more.

Please visit Family Hub on EngageBSU for more information on how to create a BSU Family Hub account.

Family In-Person Orientation Program

The in-person component to family orientation runs concurrently with the student BSU Checkpoint Program in June. Registration is highly encouraged for families and supporters, and information will be sent directly to your student, who will be assigned a session to attend.
